Cycle across Spain

In July our Director of Projects, David Beggs, took part in the Reigate and Redhill YMCA annual charity cycle. After cycling from London to Paris last year, this year David gave himself the tougher challenge of cycling across Spain from Biarritz to Barcelona.

The charity offers various programmes to help people of all ages develop to their full potential, including activities such as sport, childcare, youth work and housing. YMCA’s programmes strive to be inclusive – catering for people who are unfortunately experiencing disadvantage, disability and ill health.

David and his teammates cycled a total of 750k from Biarritz to Barcelona in 6 days, camping along the way. Climbing 50,000ft of hills with temperatures reaching 41°C heat, it was very tiring! Despite this, the entire group of 45 riders of all ages managed to finish the challenge. Click here to view a video of the first big descent.

David says “It was hard work but there was good support from the YMCA guys who provided much needed food stops along the way”.

Everyone at Managementors congratulate David and all the others for completing this tough challenge and having exceeded their target of £18,000, raising over an impressive £22,000 to date. Following such a great achievement the group made it into the local news, click here to view this article.
