During the first weekend in October thirteen employees from KCOM Group cycled across northern Italy on a tough cycling challenge for charity. The four day challenge saw the team covering 330 miles from Venice to Genoa, which was a real test on their physical and mental strength.
The reason for this challenge was to raise money for Sparks, which is a UK based children’s medical research charity. Their projects find ways to diagnose, treat and prevent conditions in the four key areas of pregnancy and birth, first months of life, infancy and early childhood and rare childhood diseases. The charity has been running since 1991, having funded more than 270 ground-breaking research projects, totalling £27 million in around 80 hospitals, universities and research institutions across the UK and Overseas.
The team’s efforts so far have raised just over £50,000, exceeding the original target of £38,000, which is an outstanding achievement. We are very proud to have been sponsors to such a successful challenge which has helped raise a life changing amount of money.
