Reflecting on a year in lockdown and looking towards a brighter future

As we pass the milestone of a year since the country descended into ‘Lockdown’, I think it’s fair to say the entire nation is now increasingly confident in looking to a future where life can gradually go back to normal.  Reflecting back on the ‘Dunkirk Spirit’, which speedily mobilised everyone to work from home back in March 2020, we saw first-hand how staff across industries rolled up their sleeves and transformed ironing boards into make shift desks, in a year which none of us will ever forget!

Like our clients, we moved from working on-site to delivering entire projects remotely, to the point where our consultants have never actually met face-to-face with some of our clients, despite working together for several months. At Managementors, tens of thousands of hours have been spent on Teams calls in the last year running virtual workshops, designing new processes, coaching managers and resolving knotty issues.  In particular, we’ve carried out some great work across the infrastructure sector, with standout projects supporting Highways England and also their delivery partners Amey and Ringway.  Huge gains were achieved in driving productivity, resolving commercial challenges to unlock cash and enabling much stronger working relationships.  Equally, we’ve been busy supporting some substantial construction projects happening up in Cumbria, where our ability to cut through the politics, resolve the root cause issues and enable teams to work better together, has significantly expedited the delivery of major project milestones.

We’re confident that the future is a bright one and we’re excited to support clients in navigating their upcoming challenges, such as working through the finer details of making flexible working a reality, or regaining the lost productivity caused by the horrors of home-schooling!  We want to wish everyone success for the rest of the year and look forward to warmer and sunnier days spent in good company.
